Save Time and Money - Keep Your Exam Room Stocked

Whether you are the one stocking the exam room or a physician nothing is more frustrating or embarrassing than running out of the necessary supplies to treat your patients in a timely manner. Know the Cycles - a quick look at the last 12 months of your inventory and you'll quickly see patterns develop seasonally when you're in need of certain supplies over others. Anticipate these ahead of time and you will get a better handle on what you need during certain times of the year.  Your keen sense of anticipation may lead to more business because you have ample supply of a certain item when your competitors have stocked out…again.

Delegate – If you are a controlling physician you might try and take this on yourself.  Don't fall into this trap. Your energies and talents are better spent on activities that focus on your expertise and diagnoses. Your staff is there to help. Designate one person to keep track of inventory and hold them accountable keeping your exam rooms stocked. Teach them the two previous steps suggested and don't forget to give them encouragement as it will be a process of adjustment for everyone involved.
